Thompson Institute and CHI Institute Renamed Kaplan Career
Institute
PHILADELPHIA, January 19, 2012 - Three Philadelphia-area
higher education institutions started the new year with a new
name. Thompson Institute in downtown Philadelphia and CHI
Institute, with campuses in Broomall and Franklin Mills, are
now Kaplan Career Institutes.
"All three campuses have been members of the Philadelphia
community for 30 years," Jamie Pete, president of Kaplan
Career Institute Franklin Mills, said. "While our names have
changed, our commitment to educating area students and
helping them reach their educational and career goals is
stronger than ever."
As Kaplan Career Institutes, the campus' new names now
reflect the Kaplan brand, allowing them to be better
recognized and take advantage of Kaplan's national reputation
for educational excellence. CHI Institute Broomall became a
part of Kaplan Higher Education in 2000 and, two years later,
CHI Institute Franklin Mills and Thompson Institute joined
the family.
"Our students are part of a network of nearly 80,000 students
around the country being educated at Kaplan institutions,"
Ayanna Washington, executive director of Kaplan Career
Institute Philadelphia, said. "When they graduate and set out
to succeed on their chosen career path, they will have a
recognizable association with a well-known global education
company that has served students for more than 70 years."
Kaplan works closely with local employers to offer programs
in areas that prepare students for fields that reflect local
employment needs. The Philadelphia-area campuses offer
diploma and degree programs in allied health, criminal
justice, information technology and trades. Combined they
serve more than 1,700students, many of whom are adult
learners juggling work, family and other responsibilities
while attending school.
Kaplan Career Institute Broomall and Franklin Mills are
accredited by the Accrediting Commission of Career Schools
and Colleges (ACCSC) and Kaplan Career Institute Philadelphia
is accredited by the Accrediting Council for Independent
Colleges and Schools (ACICS). The ACCSC and ACICS are listed
as recognized accrediting agencies by the U.S. Department of
Education.
