Arkansas Tech University capped its 2013-14 men's golf season with an eighth-place finish in the NCAA Division II Midwest/Central Regional, which was played Monday through Wednesday at Fox Run Golf Club in Eureka, Mo.
The Wonder Boys posted team scores of 305-297-308 for a 54-hole total of 910.
Malone University won the regional with a three-day total of 886. The University of Central Missouri (2nd, 893), Saginaw Valley State University (3rd, 896) and the University of Central Oklahoma (4th, 899) also qualified for the NCAA Division II National Tournament out of the Midwest/Central Regional.
Jason Purdy was Arkansas Tech's top individual finisher at the regional. He shot 73-74-77 for a 54-hole total of 224 and a share of 17th place.
The Wonder Boys were also represented in Eureka by Rowdy Garrett (T-29th, 74-76-77-227), Austin Smith (T-64th, 77-76-80-233), Brian Belz (T-69th, 86-74-74-234) and Alex Mahlik (T-69th, 81-73-80-234).
Head coach Luke Calcatera led Arkansas Tech to NCAA regional competition in men's golf for a second consecutive year. The Wonder Boys have made eight appearances in men's golf NCAA regional play all-time (1998, 2001, 2002, 2003, 2004, 2009, 2013 and 2014).
