Sox Shut Out Ems, 2-0
Reyna makes first start, fans six in four innings

VANCOUVER, Canada - Three AquaSox pitchers combined to toss a 2-0 shutout over the Vancouver Canadians Saturday night at Nat Bailey Stadium. Marcos Reyna made his first start of the season and was brilliant in four scoreless inning of work, allowing just one hit and two walks to go along with six punchouts.

Rusty Shellhorn was scheduled to start for the Sox, but instead took a flight to Clinton, Iowa after being promoted to join the LumberKings. The Liberty Lake, Wash., native was outstanding in his short stay with Everett, posting a 2.76 ERA in 32.2 innings with 32 strikeouts.

The only two runs of the game came in the top of the second inning when Sox outfielder Janelfry Zorrilla hit a two-run homer to left field. Alfredo Morales scored on the play after leading off the inning with an infield single.

The two-run AquaSox lead would prove to be enough behind the pitching of Reyna, Grady Wood and Matt Vedo. Wood, who relieved Reyna in the fifth, tossed three innings with three strikeouts to earn the win. Vedo would pitch the final two frames, racking up five strikeouts en route to his third save of the season.

The Frogs return home Sunday to kick off their final homestand of the year, beginning with three games against Eugene and then a five-game series against Yakima.

Right-hander Victor Sanchez (5-2, 3.82 ERA) will take the mound for the Sox, and will be opposed by right-hander Tayron Guerrero (0-0, 3.00 ERA) of Eugene.
