World No. 6 Jo-Wilfried Tsonga has withdrawn from next week's Western & Southern Open after lacerating his knee in an unusual accident while walking in Toronto this week. According to his manager, Tsonga required eight stitches in his right knee after walking into a fire hydrant on the street and doctors have said that he needs 10 days to recover from the injury.
The statement said: "Jo walked into a fire hydrant
(sticking out of a building) while walking in the streets,
which caused the injury, but his participation at the
US Open is not in doubt".
