Applications Being Accepted for Student Projects up to $50,000

BALTIMORE (Aug. 10, 2012)-Constellation today announced the kick-off of its 2012 E2 Energy to Educate Grants program, which provides funding opportunities for student projects enhancing the understanding of energy-related science and technology issues.

Students in grades six through 12 can apply for program grants up to $25,000; students in two- and four-year colleges can apply for up to $50,000. Applications are now being accepted, and the deadline for submissions is Oct. 1.

"Education and innovation are vital to achieving our nation's economic, energy and sustainability objectives," said Kenneth Cornew, president and CEO of Constellation. "The goal of our Energy to Educate grants is to inspire our nation's brightest young minds to explore and tackle critical energy challenges and opportunities."

In 2011, the program awarded more than $500,000 and reached nearly 26,000 students nationwide. The student projects included hands-on wind turbine design, electric and solar vehicle competitions, battery design, energy storage and many other topics.

To qualify for an E2 grant, a project must be located in an area where Constellation has a business interest, be team-oriented and reach a minimum of 100 students. Projects involving students in grades six through 12 must include a minimum of three partners, including at least one that is governed by a board of directors and designated a 501©(3) nonprofit organization.

To learn more about the program and application criteria, review the details online in the Community Outreach section of www.Constellation.com.
