Tata Chemicals bags two awards at the prestigious FICCI Water Awards 2012

Delhi: Tata Chemicals won laurels at the FICCI Water Awards 2012. The company bagged two silver awards, one in the category of Innovation for its nanotech water purifier Tata Swach and the second category being Community Initiatives for the community water management projects through Tata Chemicals Society for Rural Development (TCSRD). The awards were conferred at a glittering ceremony held at the FICCI headquarters in New Delhi. Sheila Dixit, chief minister, government of NCT of Delhi, and chief guest of honour, Montek Singh Ahluwalia graced the occasion with their presence and handed over the awards to Tata Chemicals.
Speaking on the occasion, R Mukundan, managing director, Tata Chemicals, said, "With the multifarious challenges of safe water access and affordability in India, there is immense scope for industry organisations today to continuously innovate and develop sustainable products and community development models. We constantly work for the development of the communities in the geographies we operate. With Tata Swach, we aspired to combine technology, performance, design and convenience to serve millions of our consumers. This recognition will motivate us to innovate more and continue to serve society through science. "
Speaking on the occasion, SG Choudhary, chief technology and sustainability officer, Tata Chemicals, said, "Water is not only an issue of business risk at our operations, but a commitment to our value of care. This recognition of our efforts will encourage us further to adopt innovative practices for sustainable management of the shared watersheds and products for safe drinking water."
FICCI Water Awards, in association with HSBC, is instituted to recognise the efforts by Indian industry in areas of water efficiency, management and its conservation. The awards aim at felicitating organisations for their contribution to the industry through innovation for increased efficiency with improved performance and community building at large. The FICCI Awards have emerged as one of the most credible and coveted in the industry within a short span of time.
