U.S. Border Patrol in N.Y.
Prevents Suicide Attempt Canadian Citizen Safe

Buffalo, N.Y. - U.S. Border Patrol
agents from the Buffalo Station
prevented a person from jumping off
the International Railroad Bridge on
the upper Niagara River yesterday
morning.
A Border Patrol agent convinced the
person, who was distraught over
personal issues, not to leap from the
bridge.
The incident took place on Aug. 1, at
approximately 3:00 am. The agent was
alerted to the scene where he found
the person on the outside rail of the
bridge. A Border Patrol marine vessel
responded to the scene as well.
After contacting Canadian law
enforcement and Niagara Regional
Police for assistance due to the
person's Canadian citizenship, the
individual was escorted back to
Canada where the Niagara Regional
Police took over the situation.
