Albany - The newly elected leaders of the Public Employees Federation (PEF) officially took office today after they were sworn in by PEF's General Counsel Lisa King at the union's headquarters in Latham.
The officers sworn to duty are Susan M. Kent as president; Carlos J. Garcia as secretary-treasurer; Wayne Bayer, Wayne Spence and Barbara Ulmer as vice-presidents; and, trustees Ronald Brown, Kenneth Johnson and Maureen Kellman.
The members elected to positions on PEF's Executive Board will be sworn in at the board's quarterly meeting on August 16.
"This administration is committed to involving and uniting all PEF members and working together to turn the tide against the negative campaigns targeting public workers and unions," Kent said. "We will work tirelessly to ensure the public, business community and elected officials know the value that PEF members add to the community and New York's economy.
"This team is here to listen to members and provide solutions that will make positive differences by promoting sound public policy decisions to benefit the public and provide job security for our members."
Garcia added, "The people who are joining our team are experienced leaders in their fields, who can enhance the image of PEF. We are a team committed to serving all our members."
