Over the past 24 years the Kingston Buskers Festival has energized the downtown district with a diverse range of performers… from musicians and dancers to jugglers and magicians.  A summer showcase of street entertainers may seem an unlikely place to talk about curling - but volunteers for the 2013 Scotties Tournament of Hearts were there to let everyone know another major celebration is coming to the city.

Scotties promoters were at the heart of the action July 12-15 to publicize the Canadian Women's Curling Championship, heading to the K-Rock Centre February 16-24, and to let everyone know that festivals in the city's historic downtown are not exclusive to the summer season.

"When the buskers converge for the annual festival they always attract people who love to be entertained," said Promotions Director Betty Bush.  "Those are exactly the kind of people we want to meet because the Scotties is all about entertainment… not only the excitement of the competition on the ice but the non-stop party in the HeartStop with great food, beverages and absolutely amazing bands!"

The promoters moved from the streets to the fairways July 31 for the 14th Annual Rose of Hope Golf Tournament at Cataraqui Golf and Country Club.  The Scotties crew worked the registration desk, distributing kits that included event tees and ball markers, and donated two opening weekend ticket packages for the silent auction.

The next date on the calendar is August 4 at Princess St. Promenade in downtown Kingston when the Scotties teams up for a promotion with Rock Solid Productions.  Everyone's welcome to take their best shot on the 70-foot non-ice surface and enter to win two opening weekend packages for the Scotties and a Kruger gift basket.

And make sure you watch for the friendly faces of the Scotties volunteers at the finish line of the K-Town Triathlon August 5 in Confederation Park.

"You Gotta Be There" when the 2013 Scotties Tournament of Hearts comes to the K-Rock Centre, February 16-24.  Prime seats are available now by clicking here.
