STONY BROOK LONG ISLAND CHILDREN'S HOSPITAL TO LEAD HOSPITALS ACROSS NEW YORK STATE IN OFFERING PERTUSSIS VACCINE TO PARENTS OF NEWBORNS IN 2013

WHAT:
Parents of neonates at Stony Brook Long Island Children's Hospital will speak to the benefits of receiving the Bordetella pertussis (whooping cough) vaccine and will demonstrate the vaccine's benefits by receiving immunizations. Stony Brook University President Samuel L. Stanley Jr. will join Sen. Kemp Hannon (R-Garden City) and Steve Englebright (D-Setauket) in announcing legislation that requires hospitals with newborn nurseries or obstetric services to offer the vaccine to parents and caregivers of newborns starting in 2013.
