Atlantic County Storm Update - 6 PM, July 2, 2012

STATE OF EMERGENCY

remains in effect on July 2, 2012.

Curfew has been rescinded as of 4:30 pm this evening for all municipalities.

Residents and businesses should continue to report damages to their local Office of Emergency Management. To report power outages please call Atlantic City Electric at 1-800-833-7476.

Residents are reminded to stay hydrated during this period of excessive heat and to take necessary precautions. View our Heat Related Illness brochure for additional information. Food safety is another concern for those without power.

Today's identifed cooling stations will be closing this evening with the exception of three locations which will remain open 24 hours a day until further notice: Dorothy Fire Hall, Margate Terrace at 610 N. Fredricksburg Avenue, and Northfield City Hall where residents can seek relief from the heat in air conditioned facilities and receive water.

Residents with transportation may visit the Hamilton Mall in Mays Landing to receive one 40-lb. bag of ice and one case of water (24 bottles) per car. Emergency officials have scheduled to extend this distribution on Tuesday, July 3 from 8 AM to 8 PM provided supplies are available.

The Galloway Township shelter at Reeds Road School is now closed.

All Atlantic County Library System branches are open during normal business hours except for those without power or air conditioning which include Mays Landing, Egg Harbor Township and Ventnor.
