Critical Mention Launches AllMedia Platform With Advanced Analytics for Mobile, Tablet & Web

Software Features Industry's Only Real-Time Alerting Across Mediums, Plus Cloud-Based Social Video Tools

June 21, 2012

New York, June 21 -- Critical Mention, which provides real-time broadcast intelligence to nine of the world's top 10 brands, today launched AllMedia, a platform including millions of online information sources and cloud-based tools allowing clients to collect and curate user-generated video content from their online communities.

Deployment of AllMedia to a limited selection of clients was announced at PR News magazine's Taste of Tech conference in New York today. A phased roll-out will make the service available to up to 100 additional users through the summer.

"A basic tenet of PR is to listen before speaking - and we've helped our clients do that for 10 years," said Sean Morgan, founder and CEO of Critical Mention. "Now we're bringing to market a platform that expands the definition of media intelligence to include truly insightful analytics across multiple mediums and engagement through video."

AllMedia, the fifth version of Critical Mention's cloud-based software, was rolled out this week to select subscribers representing global consumer brands, international and regional not-for-profit organizations and governmental bodies, said Kye Strance, senior vice president for product development, adding that an expansion to wider launch will take place in July.

Features of the new platform include:

  • Broadening of content monitored by Critical Mention beyond real-time television and radio to include comprehensive coverage of more than 36,000 online news sites, 20 million blogs, consumer review sites and forums, Twitter, and public pages from LinkedIn, Facebook and dozens of additional social platforms.

  • Functionality across iOS and Android devices, supporting subscribers' mobile, tablet and web strategies.

  • Powerful analytics backed by natural language processing (NLP) to reveal, among other things, when and how news topics spread from medium to medium.

  • Flexibility in how news alerts, reports and other data are shared among users within an organization, allowing multiple members of a team to collaborate while others working on confidential projects can keep their content private.

  • Access to cloud-based video upload, editing, curation, tagging and publishing tools allowing fans and followers to submit video in a brand-safe manner.

  • Turnkey video distribution engine to publish content to the world's largest social video platforms, including Syndicaster, ClipSyndicate, YouTube and other syndication platforms.

By co-mingling Critical Mention's mainstay broadcast content with online social and mainstream media data, and analyzing it with NLP, clients will be better informed than with legacy point solutions, said Strance.

"It's not just listening that's important, it's understanding the subtleties of each medium and garnering insights that will inform our subscribers' earned- and owned-media strategies," Strance said, adding that advanced charting and automated sentiment scoring will highlight content and individuals requiring immediate attention.

The social video components of AllMedia are provided by Syndicaster, winner of Digiday's 2011 award for top publishing innovation. The Syndicaster platform -- operated by Critical Mention's parent company, Critical Media -- is used by 30% of network television affiliates and 150 newspapers.

"Syndicaster powers UGC citizen journalism efforts at leading print and broadcast news outlets, so it is a natural extension for brands across all industries to begin telling their story through video, much of it user-generated," said Strance.
