CONSTRUCTION ALERT
Ground Transportation Center - Shuttle Relocation
Arrival (Lower) Level Lane Closures - Seismic Retrofit

WHAT:
On Tuesday, June 19, John Wayne Airport will begin resurfacing the Ground Transportation Center. During this time, access to the area will be limited and several of the shuttle operations will be temporarily relocated.

Passengers utilizing these services should note the temporary locations being used for ground transportation:

  • The Disneyland Resort Express will be relocated to the red curb north of Terminal A on the Arrival (lower) Level.
  • The Main Street Parking Lot courtesy shuttle will be relocated just south of the Ground Transportation Center crosswalk on the Arrival (lower) Level in front of Terminal B.

WHEN:
June 19, 2012 through July 2012. Upon completion, the Main Street Parking Lot shuttle will return to normal operations at the Ground Transportation Center.

Note: The Disneyland Resort Express will continue to operate from the red curb north of Terminal A on the Arrival (lower) Level through August 2012 due to ongoing construction on the seismic retrofit of the upper and lower roadways.

The overall Seismic Retrofitting project is ongoing through December 2012.

WHY:
Resurfacing the Ground Transportation Center is part of John Wayne Airport's routine maintenance of facilities.

Seismic Retrofit
The roadway system at John Wayne Airport is undergoing seismic remediation to ensure all structural elements of the Departure (upper) Level roadway are current with the most stringent safety and seismic standards. A portion of the Arrival (lower) Level of the Airport roadway will be narrowed to allow for construction on the pillars reinforcing the Departure (upper) Level roadway. Portions of the white passenger pickup lanes and curb will be narrowed as well.  The roadway pillars will also be "wrapped" according to the new Terminal A, B and C color schemes to better identify passenger pickup locations.
