HACHETTE BOOK GROUP TO LAUNCH REDHOOK, NEW COMMERCIAL FICTION IMPRINT

June 14, 2012 - Hachette Book Group announced today that it will launch Redhook, a new commercial fiction imprint within its Orbit publishing division.

The new imprint will publish commercial fiction across a range of genres, and in all formats - including digital-only. Redhook will launch in April 2013 with HAWK QUEST, a sweeping historical epic set in the 11th century by Robert Lyndon. Initially, the imprint will publish no more than one or two new titles each month.

Tim Holman, SVP and Publisher of the Orbit division, said, "Our two existing imprints, publishing SF and Fantasy, and manga and graphic novels, were launched five years ago and are now well established. Redhook will help us grow the division and broaden our business and consumer relationships. Our highly focused acquisition strategy will be matched by original and individually tailored publishing strategies. Our goals will be to foster creative and friendly partnerships with all of our authors, and to make every one of them a bestseller."

David Young, CEO of Hachette Book Group, said, "The creation of Redhook is an exciting opportunity for Hachette Book Group to grow our business and expand our touch points with consumers. As he has done so successfully with Orbit and Yen Press, Tim Holman will build a stellar commercial fiction list and will bring these books and authors to market in exciting and creative new ways. I'm thrilled to add Redhook to HBG's family of imprints."

Redhook is open to submissions from all agents and international publishers. Submissions can be sent to Tim Holman, Devi Pillai, or Tom Bouman. Additional hires are expected shortly.
