MEDIA RELEASE: 14 June 2012
The City of Casey is encouraging people interested in working in the health and community services sector to attend the up-coming Health Industry Focus Forum on Monday 25 June.
A joint initiative between the City of Casey and Centrelink this free forum is targeted at anyone interested in working in this growing sector. Job seekers, health and community services students and people considering a career change are all encouraged to attend.
City of Casey Mayor Cr Sam Aziz said an ageing population and
increasing consumer demands are expected to lead to a demand
for more people to work in this sector, particularly in the
areas of nursing, diagnostic services, allied health, child
care and aged
care and community support services.
'The Federal Government is making funding available for education and training for people wanting to work in health and community services so this becomes an attractive proposition for people considering up-skilling or changing career direction'.
The Health Industry Focus Forum will feature experts from major hospitals in the area, industry bodies and teaching institutions speaking about the range of employment, education and training opportunities available locally in the sector. There will also be the opportunity to ask questions.
