A man will front court later this month after he was allegedly detected travelling at 211km/h in a 110km/h zone.

Yesterday (Thursday 14 June 2012), police from the Mittagong Highway Patrol were performing stationary speed enforcement duties on the Hume Highway, Mittagong.

About 2.10pm, officers noticed a Saab sedan travelling north at an excessive speed.

Police checked the vehicle's speed using a LIDAR instrument, which allegedly returned readings of up to 211 km/h - 101km/h over the sign-posted speed limit of 110km/h.

Officers stopped the vehicle and arrested the 27-year-old driver, taking him to Bowral Police Station.

The man, who holds a Korean licence, was charged with speed/manner dangerous and exceed speed over 45km/h.

He was issued a Court Attendance Notice and will appear before Moss Vale Local Court on 6 August 2012.
