Recognized in 2012's Excellence in Marketing and Communications Contest
SAN DIEGO-June 14, 2012-The San Diego County Regional Airport
Authority received two first-place wins and a second-place
finish at last week's Airports Council International -North
America (ACI-NA) Marketing and Communications Conference in
Sacramento.
The Airport Authority was recognized in the categories of
Creative Innovations-Promotional Items; Public Relations
Campaigns; and Airport Aviation and Education Programs.
According to ACI-NA, 250 entries from nearly 50 airports and
airport authorities were submitted for the
2012 Excellence in Marketing and Communications Contest.
The Airport Authority's first-place win in the Creative
Innovations-Promotional Items category was for its work with
San Diego's School of Performing and Creative Arts and lead
artist Isaias Crow in developing a mural for Junior
Achievement's BizTown. The mural,
San Diego International Airport and Beyond
,
consists of a dynamic three -dimensional painting on 25 wood
panels. The Airport Authority developed an engaging take-home
puzzle with the mural's image, which earned it first place in
the category.
The first-place win in the Public Relations Campaign category
came for the public outreach for the largest improvement
project in San Diego International Airport's history,
The Green Build. The detailed campaign,
still ongoing, utilizes traditional media, social media,
stakeholder outreach and community updates to keep the public
informed as construction progresse s on The Green Build.
The Airport Authority's
"Tri pl e pl ay " we b game for children placed second in
the Airport Aviation and Education Programs category. The
game is part of the Airport Authority's
Airport Explorers program, which provides fun,
interactive tools for kids to learn about aviation.
