Sprint Commemorates Internet Safety Month with Free Resources for Families and Educators

Enhanced 4NetSafety site, www.4NetSafety.com, features tools and information from Sprint, Boys & Girls Clubs of America and the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children

OVERLAND PARK, Kan. (BUSINESS WIRE), June 14, 2012 - In honor of Internet Safety Month, Sprint (NYSE:S) has enhanced its Internet-safety program, 4NetSafety, with a robust, revitalized website featuring tools from leading child-safety experts. Sprint is a longtime advocate of seeing that families and educators have free and easy access to resources to keep kids safer online. The 4NetSafety site, www.4NetSafety.com, features the latest Internet-safety information from Boys & Girls Clubs of America and the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children, two organizations that - like Sprint - are committed to doing the right thing by young people so that they may continue to work, learn and play online in safety.

The new www.4NetSafety.com offers tips and tools related to many online-safety topics, such as cyberbullying, gaming, online predators, privacy, safer use of smartphones, sexting, social networking and Web cams. Recognizing that Internet safety affects many audiences, content is aimed not just at teens and tweens, but also at parents, guardians and educators. For instance, young people can learn through educational games and animated videos; teachers can download free lesson plans and even request a free online-education resource kit via mail; and parents will find many tips for Internet safety at home, plus links to Sprint products and services designed with family safety in mind. All content is provided free of charge, and users do not need to be Sprint customers to access the site.

"At Sprint, we value the trust we have received from our customers and others who look to us to make a difference," said Debby Ballard, director of Community Affairs. "We understand that with this trust comes a responsibility to do the right thing in all aspects of our business. We are proud to work with organizations like Boys & Girls Clubs of America and the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children to get potentially life-saving information into the hands of families across the country."

Since 2007, Sprint has donated more than $4.2 million to Internet safety. Funding is provided in large part through Sprint Project Connect, a charitable phone-recycling program through which customers and non-customers can donate their no-longer-used wireless devices with net proceeds benefiting 4NetSafety. Sprint Project Connect is an example of how Sprint continues to make a difference in areas that affect us all - in this case, our impact on the environment and the online safety of our families. Sprint Project Connect and Sprint's other device-recycling program, Sprint Buyback, have helped Sprint remain a leader in the areas of electronic waste and sustainability; in fact, Newsweek ranks Sprint No. 3 among America's Greenest Companies.
