The Nuclear Regulatory Commission will hold a joint meeting
with the Federal Energy
Regulatory Commission (FERC) June 15 to discuss several
technical topics related to the
U.S. electrical transmission grid.
The meeting will run from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. at FERC
Headquarters, 888 First St. NE, Washington, D.C. Staff from
the NRC, FERC and the North American Electric Reliability
Corporation will brief the two Commissions on several topics:
nuclear plants' impact on the efficient and reliable
operation of the U.S. grid; cyber security activities; the
NRC's station blackout rulemaking activities; and FERC's grid
reliability standards activities.
FERC is providing a
webcast of the joint meeting. The public may
attend the meeting without pre-registering. Questions about
