PULLMAN, Wash. - The Foley Institute, in partnership with the League of Women Voters of Pullman, is holding a free panel discussion on judicial diversity in the state of Washington. The event is from 3:30-5:30 Saturday, June 2, in CUE 202 and is open to the public.
The panel will consist of: Steven Gonzalez, Washington State Supreme Court justice; Laurel Siddoway, Washington State Court of Appeals judge, Division III; Cameron Mitchell, Benton County Superior Court judge; Douglas Robinson, District Court judge in Whitman County; and James Gibson, Sidney W. Souers Professor of Government at Washington University.
Panelists will discuss the need for a diverse judiciary in Washington, their experiences in the area of diversity on the bench and the role of judicial diversity in enhancing the legal system. This event is supported in part by the Transparency and Integrity Fund of the Open Society Foundation.
The League of Women Voters will also hold a cocktail hour and dinner with Washington State Supreme Court Justice Charles Wiggins at 6 p.m. at Banyan's. The cost is $25 and pre-registration is required.
