NIC Ranks 20th on Forbes' "25 Fastest-Growing Tech Companies in America"

OLATHE, Kan. - 5/24/2012

NIC Inc., (NASDAQ: EGOV) the leading provider of official eGovernment services, ranked no. 20 on the Forbes magazine list of the "25 Fastest-Growing Tech Companies in America." As part of a ranking that includes technology giants LinkedIn (no. 1) and Apple (no. 2), NIC is the only company headquartered in the Midwest to make the list.

More than 5,000 publicly traded technology companies were evaluated by Forbes for the ranking. Criteria included profitability, minimum revenue of $150 million, minimum market value of $500 million, sales growth of at least 10 percent for each of the past three fiscal years and over the latest 12 months, and three-to-five year estimated earnings-per-share growth rates greater than 10 percent. In addition, companies were ranked based on their three-year average sales growth rates.

"To be ranked among companies of such high caliber as one of the fastest growing technology companies in America is a huge honor," said Harry Herington, NIC Chief Executive Officer and Chairman of the Board. "We are very proud to be the only Midwestern company on the list, proving that great innovation is not confined to Silicon Valley - it takes place right here in the Heartland."

This ranking adds to the national recognition NIC has received in the past 12 months. In October 2011, NIC was ranked number 20 on Forbes list of the "100 Best Small Companies in America," and Mr. Herington was just one of six CEOs featured in a Forbes study, "Inspired for Growth: Lessons from Middle Market Companies."
