U14 SYL Finals Berth Allocations Announced
2012 North American Finals set for Dec. 7-11

USL News Release

Monday, May 21, 2012

TAMPA, Fla. - United Soccer Leagues released the U14 age group qualification allotments today for the 2012 Super Y-League North American Finals presented by Umbro. A total of 16 boys' teams and 12 girls' teams from the Mid Atlantic, Midwest, New England, South Atlantic, and Southeast divisions will meet at IMG Academies in Bradenton, Florida, from December 7-11 to compete for the Super Y-League championship.

The Mid Atlantic Division, home to 14 teams in the boys division, will receive five bids for the Finals, the most of any division. The second-most bids will be given to the New England Division, a total of four. The U14 SYL Finals were won by Southeast Division teams in 2009 and 2011, and there will be three teams this year hoping to continue that trend. The Midwest and South Atlantic division will each send two teams to Bradenton.

While the Southeast Division has enjoyed success in the boys' age group, the U14 girls South Atlantic Division has produced tournament champions in 2008 and 2010. The division will receive two bids, as will the Southeast and Midwest divisions. The Kalamazoo Kingdom of the Midwest Division won last year's title with a 5-0 win against Coquitlam Metro-Ford SC. The Mid Atlantic and New England divisions will each receive three bids to the Finals.

IMG Academies, a division of IMG Worldwide, the global sports, fashion and media company, is the world's largest and most advanced multi-sport training and education complex. IMG Academies has already hosted a myriad of soccer team training camps in 2012, including clubs such as the Seattle Sounders, D.C. United, Columbus Crew, Sweden's Malmö FF, and, most recently, the U.S. Women's National Team preparing for the London Olympic Games.

For more than 30 years, IMG Academies has helped countless youth, adult, collegiate and professional athletes reach their full potential in and out of sport, by providing world-class coaching, tailored programs and professional facilities within an energetic environment across a 450-acre campus.

The remaining bid allocations for the U15-U17 age groups will be released later this week.
