The Spanish Digital Agenda will be the Government's road map in terms of Telecommunications, the Information Society and e-Government during this legislature. The purpose of the Agenda is to generate a real impact on people's lives and on improving the competitiveness of Spanish companies.

The objectives for the Digital Agenda are:

• To foster the deployment of networks and services that guarantee digital connectivity.

• To develop the digital economy in support of growth, competitiveness and internationalisation for Spanish business.

• To improve e-Government and digital solutions for the efficient provision of public services.

• To guarantee privacy, confidence and security in the digital environment.

• To drive the R&D+i system in the field of Information and Communication Technologies.

• To promote skill-building for social inclusion and training of new ICT professionals.

Collaboration between the ICT sector and citizens interested in these objectives is being defined by a digital survey that will enable all technology stakeholders to get involved in developing the Digital Agenda.

The work on preparing the Digital Agenda began with the creation of a "Technical Office" that is receiving surveys from qualified parties, businesses, employers' unions, associations and users.
The survey is based on the six objectives of the Digital Agenda and will enable contributions to be made to one or more of the strategic points. The deadline for receiving contributions expires on 31 May 2012.

The Technical Office, which operates under the State Secretariat of Telecommunications and the Information Society and forms part of the Ministry of the Treasury and Public Administration Services, will design a Plan that will be made public over the summer.

The process of preparing the Digital Agenda for Spain will also consider the report being drafted by the High-Level Group that was set up in March to provide a strategic reflection on the main challenges currently being faced by the ITC sector.

Anyone interested in doing so can request access to the survey by sending an e-mail to: adpe@minetur.es.
