The Black Caps representative side, selected from the 2011 Imparja Cup, made a statement about the strength of the talent Imparja Cup last night, defeating the Australian Cricketers' Association (ACA) Masters by 10 wickets.
ACA Masters Jimmy Maher, Mick Lewis, Greg Matthews, Wayne Holdsworth, John Davison and Graeme Vimpani were joined by Alice Springs' most promising players in the exhibition match.
A precession of mistimed shots reduced the ACA Masters top order to 7-20 before the local nous of the Alice Springs locals applied a modicum of respectability, reaching a total of 59.
Black Caps openers Pat Rosser (31) and Dane Ugle (27) made light work of the total, passing the target after 6.3 overs.
The Imparja Cup 2012 was officially opened during the innings break of the feature match.
Arrernte elder Dr Patricia Miller, NT Minister for Sport and Recreation Karl Hampton and Northern Territory Indigenous Cricket Advisory Council Marcus Rosas welcomed the record number of teams and participants to the 2012 tournament.
The Imparja Cup starts today with all states and territories in action.
