BroadSoft Enhances Xtended Incubator Program, Expanding Opportunities for Third-Party Developers, Service Providers
New Third-Party Apps Being On-Boarded to the Xtended Marketplace
GAITHERSBURG, MD -- (Marketwire) -- 03/05/13 -- BroadSoft, Inc. (NASDAQ: BSFT) announced today that its annual Xtended Incubator Program -- a global initiative that accelerates the development of mobile and Unified Communications (UC) applications by providing seed funding to third-party app developers -- has been expanded into an on-going program thanks to its success and growth over the past few years.
Now operating as a year-round program, participating developers will have expanded opportunities to earn revenues from application sales by having their apps on-boarded and promoted in the BroadSoft Xtended ® Marketplace, an application ecosystem where service providers can tap into BroadSoft's community of more than 5,000 developers to more rapidly deliver innovative applications to their enterprise customers and consumers.
The benefits of the Xtended Incubator Program to developers are powerfully illustrated by a pair of third-party developers whose apps are currently being on-boarded to the BroadSoft Xtended Marketplace:
Camelon IT Wallboard - A web application that displays real-time data on BroadSoft Call Centers. The Wallboard provides a visual display of key metrics for call centers and displays high level statistics and triggers preset alerts.
Speech Mobility - A pair of apps, Road Warrior and Smart Number, that integrates speech-enabled virtual assistant functionality with Unified Communications to provide intelligent telephony and safe mobility.
"BroadSoft recognizes the funding challenge developers face getting applications from concept to customer, and by committing funding, resources and support -- as well as access to our global customer base of more than 500 service providers -- we aspire to accelerate enterprise and consumer adoption of innovative applications," said Leslie Ferry, vice president marketing, BroadSoft. "The openness of our program allows service providers to provide input on apps their customers want, so that developers like Camelon IT and Speech Mobility can create apps meeting these needs."
BroadSoft Xtended will also incorporate new APIs for BroadSoft UC-One™, the only "open" unified communications platform for service providers to design and introduce a comprehensive set of communications solutions spanning across BroadSoft's product portfolio.
Ferry adds, "With openness built into UC-One, service providers can easily integrate other applications designed for a broad range of users and verticals, including healthcare, retail and education. At the same time, third-party app developers can not only receive up to thousands of dollars in seed funding from BroadSoft, but also earn revenues when service providers integrate these apps with their Unified Communications solutions."
