South Jersey Energy Solutions Announces Executive Promotions

FOLSOM, NJ - Edward J. Graham, chairman, president and CEO of South Jersey Industries (NYSE:SJI) and Michael J. Renna, president of South Jersey Energy Solutions, announced, on behalf of the board of directors, several organizational changes effective January 1, 2013 at South Jersey Energy Solutions. SJI's non-regulated businesses under SJES, promote efficiency, clean technology and renewable energy. The following appointments are part of a structured succession plan that the board is implementing over the long-term to ensure SJI's continued success well into the future.

Graham announced the appointment of Michael J. Renna to the executive committee of the SJES
board of directors. Renna joined SJI in 1998. He holds a master's in business administration from Cornell University. He resides in Mount Laurel, NJ with his family.
Renna, in announcing the remainder of the changes noted, "Each of these employees has clearly demonstrated strong leadership skills and expertise in their fields. Through their combined abilities, SJES has grown both financially and in operating performance over the years. We look forward to their collaborative efforts to extend that performance well into the future."
David Robbins, Jr. was appointed senior vice president and chief operating officer, retail. In his new position, Robbins will direct the financial and operational performance of South Jersey Energy and South Jersey Energy Service Plus. Robbins joined SJI in 1997. He holds a bachelor's degree in accounting from Old Dominion University and is a certified public accountant. He resides in Millville, NJ with his family.
Stephen Poniatowicz was appointed senior vice president and chief operating officer, Marina Energy, an SJES subsidiary specializing in onsite energy production. In this position, Poniatowicz will direct and manage all of Marina's operating and product development activities. Poniatowicz joined SJI in 2000. He holds a master's in business administration from Villanova University. He lives in Berlin, NJ with his family.
Gregory M. Nuzzo was appointed senior vice president, South Jersey Resources Group, an SJES subsidiary specializing in wholesale commodity marketing and asset management services. In this position, Nuzzo will direct and manage natural gas trading activity and analyze and evaluate energy transactions ensuring they are consistent with company guidelines for risk management. Nuzzo joined SJI in 2003. He holds a bachelor's degree in accounting from Rutgers University. He resides in Sewell, NJ with his family.
Kenneth A. Lynch was appointed chief accounting officer and treasurer. In this position, Lynch will oversee all aspects of the company's accounting and financial reporting functions as well as serve as primary advisor to management on US GAAP, financial disclosure and internal control matters. Lynch joined SJI in 2003. He holds a master's degree from Villanova University and is a certified public accountant. He resides in Springfield, PA with his family.
In addition to the executive promotions, several other employees were promoted within the company's non-regulated businesses.
Joseph M. Scheufele was promoted to executive vice president and managing director, Energenic business development. Energenic is a partnership between Marina Energy and DCO Energy. In his new position, Scheufele will oversee business development efforts at Energenic in addition to consultation to SJES senior executives. Scheufele joined SJI in 1979. He holds a bachelor's degree in business administration from Rowan University. He resides in Ocean View, NJ.
William Deter was promoted to vice president, Pennsylvania Division. In this position, Deter will oversee all of the natural gas and electric marketing in Pennsylvania. Deter joined SJI in
2006 when the company purchased Open Flow Energy's natural gas marketing, supply, transportation and storage contracts. He holds an associate's degree in business administration from The Pennsylvania State University. He resides in Sykesville, PA with his family.
Donna Schempp was promoted to assistant vice president, South Jersey Resources Group. In her new positions, Schempp will support all functions related to SJRG marketing activities in addition to supporting evaluations and project risk management activities. Schempp joined SJI in
1992. She holds a bachelor's degree in accounting from Rowan University. She resides in Ocean
City, NJ.
Paul M. Straub was promoted to director, accounting. In his new position, Straub will direct the activities, scheduling and work assignments of the general ledger and financial reporting functions of SJES. In addition, Straub was named treasurer of SJES subsidiaries including Marina Energy, South Jersey Energy, South Jersey Energy Service Plus and South Jersey Resources Group. Straub joined SJG in 1984. He holds a bachelor's degree in accounting from the Richard Stockton College of New Jersey. He resides in Mays Landing, NJ.
Stacey M. Barnes was promoted to general manager, marketing and business expansion. In this position, Barnes will oversee all administrative aspects of retail marketing, business development and geographical expansion as well as strategic planning, marketing, sales coordination and customer enrollments. Barnes joined SJG in 2008. She holds a juris doctor from the University
of Pittsburgh School of Law. She resides in Merion Station, PA.
Richard Gallagher was promoted to general manager sales and business development. In this position, Gallagher will manage the sales and business development efforts for the retail group within SJES covering the industrial, food processing, health care, gaming (commercial and tribal), federal, state and tribal government markets. Gallagher joined SJI in 2006. He holds a juris doctor from Syracuse University. He resides in Doylestown, PA.
