Singapore, 4 January 2013 - SingPost salutes the New Year with the release of the Snake Zodiac stamp issue today. The Snake Zodiac stamp series is its sixth instalment of the second 12-year Lunar New Year series, which began with the Year of the Rat in 2008.

1. Snake Zodiac Stamp Issue

The Snake Zodiac stamp issue comes in three different designs of 1st local, S$0.65 and
S$1.10. The symbolism of the gold and the red evoked the feeling of wealth and happiness.
Another prized collectible is the limited-edition Collector's Sheet (S$16.80) that uses offset printing with metallic ink and the UV varnish. Through a special viewer attached, one can the hidden images i.e. the outgoing zodiac animal, Dragon and the next year's zodiac animal, Horse.

Also available on sale are the Pre-cancelled First Day Cover affixed with the complete set of Snake stamps (S$2.75), the Presentation Pack (S$3.75) and the 1st Local self-adhesive sheetlet (S$2.55). All first day covers will be cancelled with a special Snake postmark.
The stamp products of this issue will be on sale from 4 January 2013 at all post offices and the Singapore Philatelic Museum. They can also be purchased via SingPost's online shopping portal vPOST, http://shop.vpost.com.sg.

2. Limited edition Zodiac Collector Sheet featuring the first 6 zodiacs

Limited edition Zodiac Collector Sheet featuring the first 6 zodiacs (S$18.80)

To add to philatelic interest and collectability, SingPost will be releasing a limited-edition Zodiac Collector Sheet featuring the first 6 zodiacs - Rat, Ox, Tiger, Rabbit, Dragon and Snake - in conjunction with the River Hongbao 2013 on 8 February 2013. This Zodiac sheet will contain six stamps with a face value of S$1.10 each.
Priced at S$18.80, this limited edition Zodiac sheet will be housed in a specially designed hard cover folder, and will be available on sale at SingPost booth at the River Hongbao
2013 as well as all post offices, the Singapore Philatelic Museum and vPOST.

3. Festive Postage Rates for Lunar New Year

For the 12th year, SingPost is offering special postage rates for greeting cards posted during 20 January to 10 February 2013 to help spread the festive joy for the Lunar New Year.

ƒ Local greeting cards

SingPost's festive rate for a greeting card of any size, shape or colour to a local address is S$0.26 (for weight up to 20 grams) and S$0.32 (for weight up to 40 grams) respectively, down from the usual postage rate of $0.50 for non-standard greeting cards.

ƒ Greeting cards for overseas

The festive rate for a greeting card of up to 40 grams posted to anywhere in the world (except Malaysia and Brunei) is S$0.55, a saving of S$0.60 to S$1.25 depending on the destination.
Customers sending greeting cards of up to 40 grams to countries in Zone 3 like Australia, Japan, New Zealand, Africa, America, Europe and the Middle East will get to enjoy the highest savings of 69%.
Postage rates for greeting cards posted to Malaysia and Brunei remain unchanged at S$0.45 (for weight of up to 20 grams) and S$0.55 (for weight of up to 50 grams). Please refer to Annex 2 for more information.
Customers can purchase stamps for their greeting cards at any post office, Self-service
Automated Machines (SAM), postal agents and stamp vendors located islandwide.
