Session to Address Best Practices for Data Center Power Conservation

SANTA ANA, Calif., Nov. 26, 2012 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- STEC, Inc. (Nasdaq:STEC), a leading global provider of solid-state drive (SSD) technologies and products, today announced that Swapna Yasarapu, director of SSD product marketing for STEC, will serve as chairperson of a session on reducing power usage in data centers at this week's 2012 Server Design Summit in Santa Clara, California.

Yasarapu will lead a session at 8:30 a.m. on November 28, detailing the best approaches to energy reduction in servers and data centers. The session, titled "Reducing Data Center Power Usage," features paper presentations by representatives from FieldView Solutions, Micron Technology, the HyperTransport Consortium, and Flextronics, offering fresh insights to data center power conservation.

"The Server Design Summit has become a must-attend event for anyone in the server market, and I've been fortunate enough to participate in the event since its inception in 2010," said Yasarapu. "I am excited to be leading a discussion this year on the importance of reducing server energy consumption in data centers."

At STEC, Yasarapu is responsible for advancing STEC's SSD product families, which deliver enterprise-class solid-state storage solutions to customers worldwide. Yasarapu is a member of the Server Design Summit's Conference Advisory Board, served as conference chairperson of the 2011 event and chaired the 2010 summit's workshop on increasing server performance.

STEC offers a complete line of enterprise-class SSDs for a wide range of servers used in data centers and other environments that require fast and reliable data access. STEC was the first company to champion SSDs in the enterprise, leveraging its high-capacity and high-performance SAS, SATA, and PCI Express solutions for that rapidly expanding market segment.
