Jupiter to absorb 60 layers into existing business structure

The Jupiter Drawing Room (Cape Town) and Cape Town based creative agency 60 layers of cake South Africa, have today announced their merger. Clients from 60 layers of cake are being notified of the changes and will be offered the opportunity to be serviced by the new strengthened combined service.

Michael van den Heerik, CEO at 60 layers of cake, will be taking up the position of Business Advancement Director at Jupiter, and commented on the new business partnership, saying that "Jupiter has a formidable reputation in the industry, with whom I have a long history. When the opportunity arose for us to combine our expertise and business, it seemed a logical next step for us."

Van den Heerik previously worked at Jupiter as Operations Director, leaving in 2010 to set up the 60 layers of cake operations in South Africa.

Commenting on his return to the business, Claire Cobbledick, Managing Director at Jupiter, said that Jupiter was looking forward to working with Van den Heerik again.

"Michael brings a great deal of energy and drive to a business, which has been evident in the way that 60 layers has grown to be a reputed and admired creative business, with an enviable reputation for creative thinking and execution. We're looking forward to having him back on board in our business, and incorporating the great work and energy that he will bring with him", she explained.

Client work and teams will slot into Jupiter's structure, with creative, client service and specialist expertise being combined to best suits the needs of each client.

Clients of 60 layers of cake will benefit from the expanded range of services offered by Jupiter, including a larger studio, an award-winning design department, a digital team offering development and design services, a community management and content creation team specialising in PR and social media, and in-house strategy and media planning expertise.

The businesses will commence working together, from the current Jupiter offices in Black River Park in Cape Town, from 1 February 2013.

Internationally, the offices of 60 layers of cake Amsterdam and Moscow will continue to operate as independent agencies.
