6th Labor-Management Council Launched

- Spread a labor-management culture of trust and communication, and lead to overcome management crisis

The 6th POSCO Labor-Management Council held its launching ceremony at the main conference room of Pohang headquarters on November 19th.
At the ceremony, which took place in Pohang, and Gwangyang and Seoul via video conferencing, 400 members including labor committee members of the Labor-Management Council as well as the factory committee members and others attended pledging for successful Labor-Management Council activities.

The POSCO Labor-Management Council consists of members representing laborers selected through direct votes and CEOs serving a term of three years. The council has served to represent employees` thoughts, discussing primary current issues and seeking developmental plans to heighten corporate competitiveness and raise the rights and interests of employees.

Representative Lee Juhyeong, who was inaugurated as the 6th representative of laborer council members within the Labor-Management Council, in his inaugural commentary said, ``The Company must be respected and loved by internal and external stakeholders to overcome the difficult management environment. I will take the lead in spreading a labor-management culture of trust and communication and overcoming the economic crisis, and also set an example in social issues such as social contribution and forming a sound drinking culture.``

President Park Hanyong in his congratulatory speech said and emphasized, ``The Company will be able to take this crisis and change it into an opportunity as long as it faces the difficult reality and gathers strength and wisdom centered on the Labor-Management Council. I expect the Labor-Management Council to take a leading role in increasing a sense of ownership and creating an enjoyable workplace, and also take part and set an example in activities to improve corporate competitiveness.``

Meanwhile, the 6th Labor-Management Council selected and officially announced the slogan of ``Dreams and hope, loved company POSCO; the Labor-Management Council will make it come true.`` The slogan represents the will of the Labor-Management Council to proactively lead activities to make POSCO a loved company by stakeholders.

Previously, on November 1st, the ten labor council members of the 6th Labor-Management Council elected Lee Juhyeong of the Pohang steelmaking division as the labor council representative and Gwangyang steelmaking division`s Oh Byeongtaek as the corporate-wide secretary general. At the same place, the Gwangyang Steelworks Council elected Cha Jaemun of the facility technology division as a representative of the Steelworks Council.

The Pohang Steelworks Council representative will be served by Lee Juhyeong according to operation provisions. The term of the labor council members and factory council members of the 6th Labor-Management Council will be three years, ending November 16th, 2015.
