"We appreciate Brent's leadership in growing Medicity to the leading health information exchange technology company. Further, Brent helped to position Medicity as a fundamental component in Aetna's strategy to connect and empower the next generation of health care. We wish him the best in his new endeavors,"

SALT LAKE CITY--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Aetna (NYSE: AET) today announced the appointment of Nancy Ham to chief executive officer of Medicity. Medicity, an Aetna subsidiary, is the nation's leading provider of health information exchange technology solutions for hospitals, physicians and health information exchanges (HIEs).

"Nancy's extensive health care leadership experience, and in particular her experience working with providers on solutions for practices and health systems, will greatly benefit Medicity," said Charles E. Saunders, MD, chief executive officer of Emerging Businesses for Aetna. "Our goal is to create a fully connected health care marketplace to enable better exchange and action on health care information. Nancy will help us leverage Medicity's leadership position to drive better connections and integration in the provider marketplace."

Ham was most recently president and CEO at MedVentive, a provider of performance analytics to accountable care organizations and payers. She has more than 20 years of experience in health care, including health care finance, population health management solutions, enterprise software and transaction processing. She is experienced in leading companies through all phases of corporate growth. Her leadership experience includes leadership roles at Sentillion, a provider of identity and access management solutions for hospital organizations, ProxyMed, a healthcare transaction processing company, ActaMed and Healtheon/WebMD.

Further, Brent helped to position Medicity as a fundamental component in Aetna's strategy to connect and empower the next generation of health care. We wish him the best in his new endeavors," said Dr. Saunders.
