UNION GAS GIVES BACK TO TORONTO THROUGH RECORD-BREAKING UNITED WAY CAMPAIGN
100% employee participation and company matching dollars raises more than $41,400

Toronto, ON - An annual employee fundraising campaign at Union Gas has raised more than $41,400, the largest donation to United Way of Toronto in the company's 100-year history. The 2012 campaign is also the second year in a row that 100 percent of employees in the company's Toronto office have participated.
"I continue to be inspired by the enthusiasm and generosity that Union Gas employees and retirees demonstrate year after year during our United Way fundraising campaign," said Mark Prociw, Union Gas marketing specialist and Toronto area campaign lead. "We're proud of our longstanding history with Toronto and I can't think of a better way to express our thanks than by being able to provide this record-breaking gift to United Way."
The Union Gas campaign is led by a dedicated and enthusiastic group of volunteers and all individual employee and retiree donations made during this campaign are matched dollar for dollar by Union Gas' parent company, Spectra Energy - doubling the community benefit.
"Here at United Way we know that it takes everyone working together to change social conditions and I would like to extend a very special thank you to the employees at Union Gas whose enthusiasm and support is helping to build a better city for everyone," said Althea Wray, associate manager, resource development for United Way Toronto.
For over 100 years, Union Gas has been privileged to work in more than 400 Ontario communities. In addition to natural gas delivery services for homes and businesses, Union Gas has contributed to the province through significant economic investments, hundreds of jobs, millions in municipal taxes, energy efficiency programs, thousands of volunteer hours for community organizations, major charitable giving and sponsorships. Last year alone, Union Gas contributed $3 million to charitable organizations across Ontario, including a year-round Winter Warmth program that provides emergency relief for low-income families who have a difficult time paying their natural gas bills during the year.
