WILMINGTON, Del., Feb. 27, 2013 - The following statement has been provided by DuPont Chair and CEO Ellen Kullman on the release of the Bipartisan Policy Center (BPC) Strategic Energy Policy Initiative Report - America's Energy Resurgence: Sustaining Success, Confronting Challenges. Kullman is a member of the BPC's Energy Board.
"I welcome the release of the Bipartisan Policy Center's Strategic Energy Policy Initiative report. This report provides a comprehensive, sensible framework for American energy policy, and I am pleased to have been part of its development. It reflects the power of diverse interests and perspectives coming together to work through complex and often controversial issues to arrive at a workable solution.
"I believe this lays out an effective roadmap for U.S. energy policy to provide diverse, sustainable and increasingly clean energy used in efficient ways that lower environmental impact and minimize our vulnerability to economic shocks.
"The report represents the kind of balanced measures that we seek, and I think this can be a model for our government to address the critical energy challenges we face today."
The report also calls for a strong public-private partnership in energy innovation, a theme Kullman struck in her keynote address Tuesday to the Advanced Research Policy Agency - Energy (ARPA-E Energy Innovation Summit. Kullman told the audience that energy is an area in need of collaborative innovation. "The challenge we collectively face is how to make our energy mix more diverse, sustainable and cleaner, while assuring that the world has all the energy it needs to thrive," Kullman told the assembled delegates.
