Sioux Falls, S.D. - Nov. 6, 2012 - NorthWestern Energy
donated $44,066 during the third quarter of 2012 to local
charitable organizations in South Dakota and Nebraska service
areas through its Community Works Fund.
A wide variety of organizations received funding this past
quarter, including the Boys and Girls Club of Aberdeen; the
South Dakota 4-H Foundation; Huron Optimist Backpack Program;
Kearney Good Samaritans Society; Wings of Hope Cancer Fund;
University of Nebraska Foundation; Sioux Falls Helpline
Center and the Yankton Area Literacy Council. All told, more
than 54 nonprofit organizations received donations from in
the quarter.
In total, NorthWestern Energy has donated more than $341,000
companywide through the first nine months of 2012 and about
$4.88 million since the fund's inception in 2006.
The Community Works Fund provides grants to qualified
organizations that provide services to the communities it
serves in Montana, Nebraska and South Dakota. Qualified
nonprofit organizations must submit an application or written
request with proof of tax exemption under Section 501(c)(3)
or Section 170(c)(2) of the Internal Revenue Code to be
eligible for consideration. All funding decisions are made by
employee representatives who live and work in the community
where the organizations are located or provide service.
Applications are accepted year round and they are typically
reviewed on a quarterly basis.
