More than 40,000 people register in the Volunteer Brazil program

20/02/2013 14:53 - Portal Brasil

7,000 applicants will be selected to work in the six host cities of the Confederations Cup, with a further 4,900 chosen for the opening and closing ceremonies of the competition

The Volunteer Brazil program has received 40,065 applications in the first phase with people between 18 and 85 years of age being registered. 7,000 volunteers will be selected to work in the six host cities of the FIFA Confederations Cup Brazil 2013. A further 4,900 people will be chosen to participate in the opening and closing ceremonies of the competition, in Brasilia and Rio de Janeiro respectively.

Applications for the Volunteer Brazil program began on January 22 and were closed on Saturday, February 16, with candidates being advised to pay attention to the program deadlines. The result of the selection will be communicated by e-mail and through the Volunteer Brazil social network, starting on February 20. Those selected will then have the period from March 1-31 to complete a distance learning program using an online platform. Afterwards, classroom-based training will take place from April 20 to May 11 in the cities in which applicants have chosen to work as volunteers.

Social Network

Up until Monday (February 18), the Volunteer Brazil social network, which brings registered candidates together, had a total of 9,063 photos and 6,657,013 posts, including comments.

 2014

Those who have not yet applied can still try for a place in the Volunteer Brazil program for the FIFA World Cup Brazil 2014. Registration for the tournament next year will be reopened after the Confederations Cup. More than 50,000 volunteers will be selected for the 12 host cities in 2014.
