Sweeney Named NorthWestern Havre District Manager

Butte, Mont. - Feb. 15, 2013 - Carson Sweeney, a Lewistown native, has been named Manager, District Operations for NorthWestern Energy's Havre district. Currently an engineer in the Billings office, Sweeney will fully assume his new role in late February.
The Havre district stretches from Chester east to Nashua and south to Big Sandy. The district serves about 16,780 electric and 8,325 natural gas customers.
Sweeney grew up in Lewistown and later graduated from the South Dakota School of Mines and Technology with a degree in mechanical engineering. He worked for three years for a large engineering firm in Denver and worked on projects in Arizona and the Denver area before returning to Montana and joining NorthWestern in May 2011.
Sweeney has been deeply involved in the company's Distribution System Infrastructure Project, a seven-year, $300 million initiative to proactively upgrade electric and natural gas systems across Montana. He has overseen a number of sizable power pole replacement projects in the Havre area and along Montana's Hi-Line. There are a number of similar DSIP projects planned for the Havre district in coming years.

Sweeney is part of a multi-generational family of NorthWestern employees. His father, Trace Sweeney, is a longtime company employee who is currently the Town Manager in Lewistown. A brother, Austin Sweeney, works as a journeyman gasman in Lewistown.
