(Silver Spring, Md.) Discovery Communications announced today that Leslie Grandy has been named Senior Vice President of Product & Development within the company's Digital Media division. Grandy, a former executive at T-Mobile, Apple and RealNetworks, will oversee Discovery's U.S. TV Networks' digital product, mobile, development, design and project management teams.
In the newly created role, Grandy will be tasked with driving innovative product development behind the digital extensions of Discovery Communications' U.S. TV networks. Grandy will focus on delivering compelling digital experiences that delight fans of Discovery's networks before, during and after the on air shows.

In her previous role as Vice President, Product and Systems Development at T-Mobile, Grandy led the launch of the first Android/Google developed phone, and oversaw the company's popular My Faves social calling service. Prior to her position at T-Mobile, Grandy served as Apple's Senior Director for the Americas Online Stores. Grandy also served in multiple roles as a General Manager while at RealNetworks, where she led the product team responsible for multiple versions of RealPlayer and RealJukebox, managed partner operations in Media Distribution and drove subscriber acquisition for RealOne/SuperPass, Real's first Internet media subscription service.
Grandy earned a Bachelor's degree in TV and Film from Northwestern University, as well as a Master's of Business Administration from the University of Washington. She will be based in Discovery's New York office.
